WHY AM I ASK FOR MY AGE AND GENDER?
For safety and insurance reasons, some programs, courses and sliding opportunities may have age restrictions. More information regarding restrictions will be provided when opportunities are announced. We ask about gender to help us determine interest in our membership base for those sports offering different developmental tracks based on gender. For example, women’s bobsleigh. Both are optional questions in this membership application, but may be required to engage in future opportunities.
WHY ARE BOBSLEIGH & SKELETON SOMETIMES LISTED
TOGETHER AND SEPARATE FROM LUGE?
Bobsleigh & skeleton are governed together under one International Federation (the FIBT) and Luge is governed under a separate International Federation, (FIL). In some cases, programs follow these delineations to adhere to competition rules and regulations. For example, officials for bobsleigh and skeleton are trained under one set of rules even though they are two sports, while luge officials follow their own federation rule book.
